Product Description
Fevicol Marine is Pidilite's BWP (Boiling Water Proof) grade adhesive, built for wood-based work that can't afford to fail near moisture — outdoor furniture, kitchen and bathroom carcasses, window frames and genuine marine use. It withstands roughly 7 hours of boiling water and 7 days of normal water exposure, resists fungus and bacteria, and sets in about 4 hours.

How to Apply
- 1.Prepare: Use BWP/marine-grade plywood or substrate wherever possible — the adhesive can only protect the joint, not a substrate that isn't rated for water.
- 2.Clean: Ensure surfaces are dry, clean, and free of grease or dust before application.
- 3.Apply: Spread an even coat of Fevicol Marine on the mating surfaces.
- 4.Join & Clamp: Press surfaces together and clamp firmly; initial set develops in about 4 hours.
- 5.Cure: Allow a full cure period before exposing the joint to sustained water contact for best long-term performance.

What does 'BWP grade' actually mean?
BWP stands for Boiling Water Proof — the highest water-resistance classification for wood adhesives, meaning the bond is engineered to withstand prolonged, even boiling, water exposure rather than just occasional dampness.
Is Fevicol Marine only for boats?
No — despite the name, it's used wherever wood meets water: outdoor furniture, kitchen and bathroom carcasses, window frames, and genuine marine applications alike.
Do I still need waterproof plywood if I use Fevicol Marine?
Yes. The adhesive protects the joint, but if the plywood itself isn't BWP/marine-grade, the wood can still be damaged by moisture even if the glue line holds. Pair Marine adhesive with marine-grade substrate for full protection.
How does it compare to Fevicol SH for a kitchen cabinet?
For dry interior cabinets, SH is sufficient and more economical. For anything near a sink, wet-prone kitchen base unit, or bathroom vanity, Marine is the safer, purpose-built choice.
How long should I wait before the piece gets wet?
Initial set is reached in about 4 hours, but allow the joint to cure fully before exposing it to sustained water contact for maximum durability.
What is the shelf life of Fevicol Marine, and how should I store it?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the lid tightly closed between uses — this preserves the adhesive's working consistency and waterproof performance. Check the manufacturing date on the pack, and use within roughly 2 years for best results.
Does Fevicol Marine resist fungus and mould, or just water?
Both. Beyond boiling-water resistance, it's formulated to resist fungal and bacterial growth, which matters in permanently damp joints where mould is often the real cause of long-term failure, not just water alone.
Is Fevicol Marine safe to use indoors?
Yes — used as directed, it's suitable for indoor workshop use. Avoid prolonged skin contact, ensure reasonable ventilation, and wash hands after use.
Can Fevicol Marine be used on outdoor furniture left in direct rain?
Yes, this is one of its core use cases — but for continuous outdoor exposure, also use weather-appropriate wood, finish the exposed surfaces well, and design joints to shed water rather than trap it.
Why did my 'waterproof' joint still fail?
The most common cause is pairing Marine adhesive with non-marine-grade plywood — the board itself absorbs water and swells even though the glue line holds. Insufficient clamping time or applying adhesive too thin can also weaken the bond.
Can I use Fevicol Marine for laminate and veneer pasting too?
Yes, it works for general wood-based bonding including laminates and veneers, but it's best reserved for pieces that genuinely need waterproof performance — for dry interior laminate work, Fevicol SH or HiPer is more economical.
How much Marine adhesive do I need for a sheet of plywood?
Coverage is approximately 34-38 sq. ft. per kg when applied to both surfaces — for a standard 8x4 ft plywood sheet (32 sq. ft.), budget roughly 1 kg per full-face bond, adjusting for panel size and overlap.
What thicknesses does Fevicol Marine come in?
Fevicol Marine is available in 60 kg, 50 kg, 30 kg, 20 kg, 10 kg, 5 kg, 2 kg, 1 kg, 500 gm.
